Background
In the deep mountains of the Longmen Mountain Range on the western edge of the Sichuan Basin, shrouded in mist and clouds, grows a rare tea plant species with shared ancestry to the ancient tea trees of Yunnan—Sichuan "Pipa" Tea. Named for its exceptionally large, thick leaves resembling those of the loquat tree ("Pipa" in Chinese), it is one of the world's earliest tea varieties and a unique "living fossil" found exclusively in Sichuan, shaped by millennia of natural and human selection.
